Tonight! Hercules & Love Affair @ Marbar

February 12, 2010

Hercules and Love Affair @ Marbar?!

January 29, 2010

just got a facebook invite telling me that indie dance poppers Hercules and Love Affair will be performing a DJ set at our favorite spot (circa 2007)…Marbar!  the show is on Friday, February 12th.

You will not want to be missing when Hercules and Love Affair come to MARBAR on 40th. Hercules And Love Affair is the result of Andy’s dedication to the Classics: both the myths and legends of Ancient Greece and Rome that captured his imagination as a child, and the timeless club tracks that soundtracked the euphoria and delirium of his adolescence and adult life.

With and interesting blend of house and disco, this will be more than your average DJ set. Don’t think that mix is works?

Tickets are $13 now and $15 at the door, so act fast. This will be one show you won’t want to miss. 18+ only.

Indie/garage rocker Jay Reatard was found dead two days ago at his home in memphis.

via stereogum

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports:

Memphis police have opened a death investigation, spokesman Jennifer Robinson said. Lindsey was found around 3:30 a.m. in his bed, Robinson said.

He was 29. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Jeremy Lee Lindsey Jr. (May 1, 1980 – January 13, 2010
Jay was what few people have the capacity to be. He created an undeniably classic album that contained so much pain transfered to tape in such an explosive way that it made you feel different after hearing it. He was transgressive and honest. His flaws were something he focused on and overdubbed and distorted until they made you forget who he really was – a person with feelings and a good heart. He loved music and worked hard from a young age to pursue it. He was a self-made and unmade man. I am truly sickened to see him go. - Bradford Cox, 1/13/09
