Dyme Def, hailing from Seattle Washington, preach about their philosophy when it comes to wearing fresh kicks. Track curtsey of 2dopeboyz. Hot! Some clean production and great headshot lines that leave you dumbfounded. I love my nikes, so this one hits home hard.
I’m sorry, shoes raise my confidence
May 5, 2010Ratatat LP4
May 5, 2010
The duo from NY have kept true to their classic sound with the drop of LP4. The syth-bass lines and galactic keyboard build ups help create a journey through space that you and your alien friend can dance to. It’s a little slow, and defiantly stranger than what Classics and LP3 gave us, but still the same Ratatat we love. I wouldn’t except these tracks to break it onto the fist pumping scene, but they are helping me get through my time on the 5th floor stacks. Word is they recorded these and the LP3 tracks together and just joined the ones that felt right on the same album. LP4, a lil strange, but still some dank Ratatat.
Stillness Is The Move
May 2, 2010The original version of this song from Dirty Projectors is incredible, if you haven’t had a chance to hear it yet definitely take a listen.
Dirty Projectors – Stillness Is the Move
More recently, I stumbled upon this Solange Knowles cover from earlier this year, and I was shocked at how good it is…really. Apparently, Solange, Beyonce’s lil sis, is a closet hipster – she turned Jay-Z and Beyonce on to Grizzly Bear.
She took this gem from the DP’s Bitte Orca and totally flipped it on its side. I don’t know if i would choose it over the original, but it is definitely worth a listen. Using a sample from “Bumpy’s Lament” by Soul Mann & The Brothers, also in Dr. Dre’s Xxplosive, Solange really gets to showcase her vocal talent while doing justice to the original.

Electronic Excellence
May 2, 2010Hey, what’s been going on in the electronic world recently? Has Justice been around? No. Daft Punk? No. But read ahead, I promise you’ll find some goodies.
Swedish House Mafia are really what the world has been waiting for. Three all-star DJs (Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello) ripping off faces, melting souls, and as Ingrosso tweeted last night about his show in Malta, “I am so ready to fuck this club/beach in the pussy let’s go Malta !!!” That pretty much sums up what these men are up to. Scope the latest single, “One,” that is mildly awesome on its own right, but is just begging to be remixed (here’s looking at you Laidback Luke) to take it to “Leave the World Behind” levels.
Don’t know how much dubstep you people have immersed yourselves in, but regardles, you can’t not be into this.
Rusko – “Hold On (Sub Focus remix)”
And now, the best for last. “We No Speak Americano” is so delicious that as soon as the latin samba comes jiggling out of your speakers, it’s seriously goodnight moon. Just when you least expect it, that bouncing/high-pitched squeal comes in to give the song the + next to the A.
