Tame Impala takes LSD, makes post-apocoliptic video about it

May 28, 2010

Tame Impala are a new aussie psychedelic-garage rock band from Perth. The lead singer sounds like John Lennon and the rest of the band sounds like Cream…all produced with some 2010 garage-reverb distortion (is blisswave going to catch on?). Sounds really good? Well, it is. They sing trippy lyrics like There’s a party in my mind and your not invited and take GorillavsBear album art (thats what I call it these days) and incorporate it into a slew of psychedelica.  Their new album just came out and it is wonderful.  Dig them, man.

Kanye is back!

May 28, 2010

In true rock star fashion Kanye West went through his experimental stage and is now returning with a vengeance.  On his new track “Power” Kanye raps (!) and sticks to sample based hip-hop.

The song, reportedly the first single from his highly-anticipated fifth album Good Ass Job, reunites Kanye with Dwele, the soul singer who provided the hook to West’s “Flashing Lights.” Nah Right reports that Symbolyc One produced the cut, which carves an unexpected sample out of King Crimson’s prog-rock classic “21st Century Schizoid Man.” After taking a slight detour to drum machines and melancholy synths on 2008′s 808s and Heartbreak, Kanye’s latest finds the rapper returning to the sped-up samples and militaristic beats that helped his first three albums go platinum.
