New Artist: Andrew Belle
February 23, 2010
Andrew Belle is new singer/songwriter. Belle blends acoustic indie melodrama (think Bon Iver) with a mainstream sensibility (think Brett Dennen) to create something very relaxing ansd great. His album ‘The Ladder’ comes out tomorrow and it’s really really wonderful. Check out a video for the song The Ladder below.
Also, Obey City (one half of Hoodie Allen) and Brett Copell (one third of this blog) made remixes of Belle’s song Static Waves. Download below!

34th Street Writers Eat Acid, Love Womping Face
February 18, 2010
Todays edition of 34th Street talks about Dubstep, Yeasayer, and generally contains a lot of heady stuff. Seems like Penn kids are getting more and more into raving and psychedelics (or at least the music)..TF approves. Read it here.
Note: In her review of Odd Blood Street writer Katherine Eisenbud uses the phrase “pretentiously experimental jumble of robotic noises and creepy, boogeyman vocals”
New Music: Rubblebucket
February 16, 2010
Indie rock jam bands have started…(yes!).
My friend just turned me on to this 9 piece Boston band called Rubblebucket. I’m not sure if they go by Rubblebucket Orchestra or just Rubblebucket..somebody should find out. It’s jazzy, afro-poppy, jammy, and generally cool. It sounds like Bjork moving to Brooklyn circa 2009 and calling up members of the Trey Anastasio Band for some psychedelic jam sessions. Best jam-band I’ve heard in 7 years.Click below for their new song ‘Bikes’.

The Locust Listener
February 15, 2010Have you ever wondered what people around campus are listening to? Well we did, and frankly couldn’t stand not knowing any longer– we decided to take action. After mustering up the courage, we ask people what tune they’re cruising around campus to in this new feature, The Locust Listener.
Name: Ashley
Spotted: Locust walk, outside of Huntsman
Listening to: Beyonce ft. Lady Gaga – “Video Phone”
