Happy Birthday Ziggy Stardust

January 8, 2010

The TF crew would like to send a very special Happy Birthday message to our favorite psychedelic popper/ rocker/protopunker, David Bowie.  We’ve included a recently found fan letter that Bowie wrote back in the 60′s before he really made it big. And we’ve also included a cool Soulwax remix of Rebel Rebel, a track released in 1974 on Bowie’s album, Diamond Dogs.  Enjoy! Bowie in Spaaaace!

DJ Newby interviews Bangs

January 6, 2010

Are either of these guys serious right now? Does Bangs think he’s a good rapper? Does Newby think Bangs is worth meeting? Tripping Franklins media consultant, DJ Newby, recently met up with not-viral-and- not-that-funny-internet-meme Bangs in Melbourne. The entire story can be found on Newby’s blog.  I’m at a loss for words.

La Roux Help!

January 6, 2010

UPDATE: Jelani is the greatest person ever, and Tripping Franklins is sending a special gift as we speak. Here’s the link to buy tix– everyone come!

http://www.igetrvng.musictoday.com/Igetrvng/calendar.aspx

On Fedruary 9th, Tripping Franklins favorite La Roux is bringing their synth power to Philly– but there’s one problem– I CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TICKETS! It’s not that it’s sold out– just go to her website and you can buy tix to any of her other shows. Ticketmaster, the venue site, anywhere you look, can’t find tickets. This is everything that’s wrong with the music business– as soon as I want to actually pay for something music-related, I can’t figure it out.

Whoever is able to tell us at Tripping Franklins how to buy tickets (a link to craigslist isn’t sufficient) will receive a verrrry special TF gift. Start searching!

Who’s La Roux you ask? Here’s a little taste.
